Lillie Coffey-Sullivan Scholarship
Available to members of First Missionary Baptist Church, Ardmore, Okla., who attend any college,
university, or seminary affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. Students must be preparing for a church-related vocation. Biblical or Christian Counseling shall not qualify as a church-related vocation. Secondary consideration may be given to other current or former residents of Oklahoma, followed by other qualified applicants.
Undergraduate studies will be treated as stated above. The number of semesters a scholarship will be awarded for studies toward either a master’s or doctoral degree will be considered individually, case-by-case.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the college, university, seminary, higher education, or vo-tech school for tuition, books, fees, room, and/or board. Students living off-campus may apply scholarship funds toward the cost of off-campus room and board, not to exceed the on-campus fees of the institution the student attends. Students commuting to classes from their permanent place of residence may not apply scholarship funds toward living or travel expenses.
2. To qualify for a full scholarship, undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester. The requirement for graduate students is six credit hours per semester. Scholarship amounts are prorated for students enrolled in fewer credit hours. Scholarships are not awarded for any type of semester, term, or intersession.
3. The number and amount of scholarships that may be awarded is determined by the number of applicants and the amount of funds available. The maximum dollar amount awarded by the Scholarship Committee for any given school term will not exceed the published cost of attending the institution, less the total of other scholarships to be received by the student.
Students applying for a scholarship must exhibit exceptional Christian character, leadership abilities, and proven academic skills. We seek students who have given their lives to serve God and others. Students must maintain a moral and ethical standard that is exemplary of the life of Christ. If any of the above comes into question at any time, the scholarship committee has the right to revoke a scholarship based on merit.
Funds for these scholarships are derived from investment earnings and the proceeds from oil and gas production. Therefore, the amount of a scholarship may vary from semester to semester. Also, receipt of a scholarship for any semester is not a guarantee of receipt for any other semester.
